Former UT Running Back Killed In Motorcycle Crash

(Austin, TX) —  A former Texas Longhorns football star is dead.

Family members confirm that 36-year-old Cedric Benson died Saturday night in Austin.  Police say he and a woman were on a motorcycle when they were hit by a minivan.  Benson was a four-year starter for the Texas Longhorns and went on to be drafted by the NFL in 2005.  He was the fourth overall pick for the Chicago Bears and later played with the Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers.  He left the NFL in 2012.

Benson who was only 36, played his high school ball at Midland Lee.
