Dozens Of Train Cars Derail In Hill County

(Hillsboro, TX) — Hill County officials are dealing with a train derailment that happened just north of Hillsboro on Monday afternoon.

About 30 cars on a Union Pacific train jumped the tracks alongside Highway 81 south of Itasca. There were no injuries and no chemicals spilled. The Hill County Sheriff’s Department says Union Pacific and other work crews are working to clear the scene.

They request the public to avoid the area for 24 hours, or until late this afternoon.
