(Fort Worth, TX) — American Airlines will pay a settlement of just over 22-million-dollars to resolve a dispute about claims of falsified mail delivery times.
The Justice Department announced the settlement on Tuesday. The Fort Worth-based carrier had a contract with the U.S. Postal System to deliver mail collected at six locations in the U.S. and several Defense Department and State Department locations overseas. American would submit electronic scans indicating the time the mail was delivered.
The settlement resolves claims that American falsified the times that the mail was transferred to various destinations.
