Big Tex Choice Award Winners Named

(Dallas, TX) — The judges for the Big Tex Choice Awards have named the winners in the categories of foods that visitors to the State Fair of Texas must try this year.

Winner of the Savory category is Ruth’s Stuffed Fried Taco Cone, by Ruth Hauntz. Tops in the Most Creative category is Fla’Mango Tango by the Garza Family. And, taking the Sweet category is Big Red Chicken Bread by Brent and Juan Reaves. It’s a bittersweet win for the brothers because their dad, “Smokey John” Reaves, died on Saturday at age 74.

The State Fair of Texas opens September 27th.
