(Dallas, TX) — American Airlines is now using facial recognition technology in the boarding process for some passengers at DFW Airport.
Facial scans have replaced the use of boarding passes at the gates, though a boarding pass is still required for a traveler to get through the security check. The Fort Worth-based carrier says facial recognition provides a more secure verification system.
So far, the new technology is being used only on international flights out of Terminal D, but its use is expected to expand.
