Ex Fort Worth PD Chief Seeks Release Of Digital Communications

(Fort Worth, TX) — A judge says she will rule by the end of the week on former Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald’s request for the digital communications of several city staffers.

Fitzgerald was in court on Wednesday for a hearing in a case in which he claims he was fired for exposing a cover-up in the city’s government. His legal team wants the judge to require the city to hand over the emails and internal instant messages of staffers they claim are involved in the cover-up.

The city’s attorneys says the request is too broad and would reveal reams of private information irrelevant to the case.
