(Arlington, Tx) – General Motors plants won’t be making cars or the parts that go in them today.
Nearly 50-thousand GM employees went on strike at midnight after contract talks between GM and the United Auto Workers union broke down this weekend. This includes the 4,000 workers at the GM plant in Arlington where they make large SUV’s for GM, Chevrolet and Cadillac brands. Talks are scheduled to resume this morning.
The last time GM workers walked off the job was in 2007. That strike lasted for two days and cost the company hundreds of millions of dollars.
