(Granbury, Tx) – We now know the cause of death for a Hood County woman found dead next to a burning car near Lake Granbury last summer.

According to autopsy results released Monday, the death of 50-year-old Angela Hickson has been ruled an accident with cause of death listed as smoke inhalation.  On June 27th, Hickson’s burning car was found stuck in grass on Tennessee Trail, about 3 miles from her Rolling Hills Shores home.  She was reportedly headed to her father’s birthday party, but never showed up.

Toxicology reports show Hickson had various prescription drugs and alcohol in her system at the time of her death.  Investigators believe she may have had a medical issue that caused her to pass out near the car where she was overcome by the smoke and flames.
