(Austin, TX)  —  Governor Greg Abbott is promising to help Texas Gulf Coast communities in the grip of Tropical Depression Imelda.

Abbott says Texas Parks and Wildlife will have boats in the Beaumont area for any high-water rescues.  The governor wants all Texans near Beaumont and Houston to listen to local officials and pay attention to weather reports.  Up to a foot of rain is possible through tomorrow.  Galveston ISD Cancels Classes Due To Imelda.  The Houston and Galveston areas could see as much as 10 inches of rain during that period.

A flash flood watch is in effect through this afternoon for coastal counties and for one tier of counties inland.
