(Granbury, Tx) – Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds is getting national attention for a campaign pledge to try and get Hood County declared a “sanctuary county” when it comes to state or federal gun restrictions.

Last week at a campaign forum for the Hood County Republican Club, Sheriff Deeds was cheered when he told the audience “We’re going to try to pass a sanctuary county resolution.”  Deeds, said this was in response to residents asking if he’ll work with federal authorities to take away their semi-automatic weapons, like AR-15’s.  The meeting was carried on a Facebook Live that has since gone viral.

Deed’s, whose been the Hood County Sheriff for the last 10 years, has drawn a challenger in the March 3rd Republican primary election.  Greyhound security executive David Streiff of Granbury has announced he’s running against Deeds.
