(Austin, TX) — A disaster declaration is being issued by Governor Greg Abbott following Sunday’s storms in North Texas.
The declaration covers 16 counties including Erath, Tarrant, Ellis and Dallas where severe weather left a swath of destruction. At least three tornadoes have been confirmed by the National Weather Service, including an EF-3 twister that touched down in North Dallas. At least six people were injured, but no deaths were reported.
Declaration will waive certain regulations, allowing utility companies to bring in out-of-state resources to assist in restoring power as quickly as possible.
