(Fort Worth, TX) — The Fort Worth City Council is proceeding with its plan to hire a third-party police oversight panel.
More than 80 members of the public spoke at Tuesday night’s city council meeting, strongly encouraging city officials to put police oversight policies into effect. Many of them said they don’t feel safe from the police in Fort Worth.
The meeting was ten days after a police officer shot and killed Atatiana Jefferson in her own home. Officer Aaron Dean resigned from the force and is now charged with Jefferson’s murder.
