(Palo Pinto County, Tx) – We’re getting a preliminary look at the first state park to open in 20 years.

The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department has released conceptual drawings showing what Palo Pinto Mountains State Park will look like once fully developed.  The Mineral Wells Index published pictures of the drawings and reports when the park will open depends on how fast its foundation can privately raise $10 million to add to the coffers.

The Texas Legislature this year authorized $12.5 million for the 4,425-acre park situated around Tucker Lake in southwest Palo Pinto County, just west of Strawn.  The park is projected to cost over $30 million to build.
