(Fort Worth, Tx) – A Fort Worth police officer is in serious condition at JPS Hospital after being hit by a suspected drunk driver.

Fort Worth Police say around 2:30 am, the officer was putting out traffic cones while assisting another officer on a separate drunk driving traffic stop on Highway 287 near Harmon in far North Fort Worth.  That’s when police say another car hit the back of her patrol car.  The driver of that car reportedly stopped along the highway and tried to run off.  He was captured and arrested for intoxication assault.

The officer’s injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
