(Parker County, Tx) – A Parker County grand jury has indicted nine people, after an illegal horse racing operation was busted in Springtown in October.
The Weatherford Democrat reports dozens of horses were found to be forced to race illegally at an unsanctioned track. Numerous large syringes, drug paraphernalia and illegal shocking devices used to enhance the performance of horses, were found at the scene on Walnut Creek Drive in Springtown.
According to the Parker County Sheriff’s office, Yesenia Garza is believed to be the ring-leader of the illegal horse racing operation. Each of the defendants is charged with conducting a horse race without a license. The case is expected to go to trial in May 2020.
