(Palo Pinto, Tx) – After several months of discussion and negotiations, Palo Pinto County Commissioners voted Monday to pull the trigger on acquiring the former Bank of America building in Mineral Wells in a property swap-plus-cash deal.
The Mineral Wells Index reports the County will trade the Poston’s Building on North Oak Avenue in downtown Mineral Wells for the former bank building on S.E. 6th Avenue, in addition to $1.3 million in cash. The county hopes the new building will ease crowding at the main courthouse in Palo Pinto and expand services to residents in Mineral Wells.
They anticipate the bank building will need close to $600,000 in repairs, upgrades and remodeling expenses for the new local government center.
