(Fort Worth, TX)  —  A North Texas veteran of World War Two is now 100 years old.

Mayor Betsy Price proclaimed Tuesday to be “Fiske Hanley Day” in Fort Worth.  The Army Air Corps veteran was flying his seventh B-29 mission in 1945 when the Japanese shot him down.  Hanley spent six months as a prisoner of war accused of war crimes.

After the war, he worked for General Dynamics, helping to build the F-16 and the Saturn 5 rocket that launched the manned Apollo moon missions.  He recently published a book that he says eliminated his PTSD.
