(Bryan, TX) – Health officials in North Texas are on alert after the news of a possible coronavirus case involving a Texas A&M student.

Dr. Erik Wilke with the Brazos County Health Department in College Station says the student is self-isolated after coming down with mild symptoms of the virus.  The head of the department also noted the patient is already improving after coming from Wuhan, China, where the virus originated.  A sample has been sent to the Centers for Disease Control for testing.

Several hospitals in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are now screening patients for the coronavirus if they’ve recently traveled to China.  The only confirmed case of coronavirus in the U.S. is in Washington State.
