(Phoenix, AZ) — Texas Rangers outfielder Willie Calhoun will undergo further evaluation today after a fastball broke his jaw on Sunday.
The pitch from Los Angeles Dodgers southpaw Julio Urias hit Calhoun in the mouth in the bottom of the first in a spring training game in Surprise, Arizona. Calhoun was taken to a hospital in nearby Phoenix, where the fracture was confirmed.
The team hasn’t yet said how long they expect Calhoun to be out.
