(Olney, TX) —  A former North Texas law officer is off to federal prison for ten years after threatening a man at gunpoint.

Robert Cross, the 35-year-old former acting chief of the Olney PD in Young County, was sentenced Monday after entering a guilty plea in October to depriving a suspect of his rights.

In 2017, Cross arrested two aggravated robbery suspects, then told them he’d have the charges dropped if they’d do what he said.  The next month, after taking them out to dinner and a movie, he pulled a gun on one of them and forced him to have sex with the other.
