(Houston, TX) —  A genetic engineering company in Houston claims to have come up with a possible vaccine against the coronavirus.

An executive with Greffex says their researchers use a genetic adenovirus-based platform that enables them to create any vaccine quickly.  Greffex developed a vaccine for Middle East Respiratory Syndrome in 2015, and since MERS is similar to the coronavirus, they produced the vaccine from that research.

Greffex now needs government funding for animal tests, and then will require FDA approval to conduct human trials.  That approval could take up to a year and a half to obtain.
