(Austin, TX) — Gov. Greg Abbott says he’s not ready to order a statewide shelter-in-place, but he says it may be the right move for local officials to make.

Speaking on Sunday, Abbott noted that more than 200 Texas counties are reporting zero cases of coronavirus.  For now, he’s leaving local decisions up to the leaders of places like Dallas, Houston, and Austin, where dozens of cases are reported.

To free up hospital space, Abbott gave hospitals the green light to treat more than one patient in a room and ordered the postponement of all elective surgeries.
