Paxton: Gun Stores Are Essential Businesses

(Austin, TX) — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton says gun stores are essential businesses that can’t be shut down during the coronavirus outbreak.

Paxton issued the legal opinion on Friday, in response to a request for clarification from State Representative Dustin Burrows, a Republican from Lubbock.

The opinion states that city and county governments may not use their emergency powers to ban or regulate the sale of firearms, not even during a disaster.
