(Weatherford, Tx) – An educator, once in the middle of a controversy, has been named as the lone finalist for the Weatherford ISD Superintendent
Dr. Beau Rees was named the lone finalist for Weatherford ISD Superintendent job last week. His pick by the WISD has drawn some criticism over controversy during Rees’ time as superintendent of the Montgomery ISD near Houston. According to the Weatherford Democrat, last Fall Rees was challenged by petitioners calling for his resignation, after a hazing incident at the district. Dr. Rees says the claims made within the petition were unfounded.
Weatherford ISD issued a statement saying the Board of Trustees was aware of the Change.org petition calling for Rees resignation. Board President Mike Guest says the board investigated the accusations and found they had no merit. Dr. Rees is expected to start at WISD on June 1st.
