(Alvarado, Tx) – Johnson County authorities say several detainees at the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado have tested positive for COVID-19.

The center holds U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees.  According to the Cleburne Times Review, as of Monday, 27 detainees had tested positive.  Affected detainees are being quarantined at the center.

The detainees were apparently transferred from ICE facilities in the northern part of the country to Texas.
