(Undated)  —  Texas is one of several states whose stay-at-home orders expire today.

Other states whose governors say they plan to let the restrictions lapse are Alabama, Idaho and Wyoming.  Others, including Louisiana and Arizona, are extending their guidelines through at least May 15th.

Many Texas businesses are set to reopen today as phase one of the state’s plan to bring back the economy gets underway. Businesses including retail stores, restaurants, malls, and movie theaters are allowed to open at 25-percent capacity with social distancing guidelines in place. Museums and libraries are also allowed to reopen at the same capacity, but all hands-on exhibits must remain closed.

Governor Abbott says the businesses will be able to operate at 50-percent capacity on May 18th if there is not a significant increase in COVID-19 cases.

The Trump administration’s guidelines on social distancing are set to expire today.  President Trump told reporters on Thursday he has no plans to extend the CDC’s recommendations.
