(Granbury, Tx) – The city of Granbury pulled the Certificate of Occupancy for Lift the Bar Fitness, effectively shutting it down, at least for one day.

The move cames after owner David Hebert’s defied Governor Gregg Abbott’s April executive order mandating that gyms remain closed due to COVID-19.  The city sent a letter to the gym Tuesday revoking their Certificate of Occupancy, however on Thursday, the gym recieved another letter saying it had been reinstated and they could resume business.

The owners posted the letters on Lift the Bar Fitness’ Facebook page adding that they had decided to wait and reopen per the Governor’s new Phase 2 plan allowing gyms to reopen on May 18th.

The Hood County News reports Anytime Fitness also opened in violation of the decree but agreed to close after speaking with city officials, City Manager Chris Coffman said.   He stated that since compliance was achieved, the city did not pull Anytime Fitness.
