(Austin, TX)  —  State officials say Texas has spent more than $200 million on personal protective equipment from March 1st through early June.

The Texas Division of Emergency Management reported the total on Tuesday, which amounts to 106 orders of PPE.  Another 638-million-dollars in purchase orders have been canceled so far.

A spokesman for the agency says purchase orders may be canceled for missing a deadline, or because the gear involved failed to measure up to the state’s quality assurance standards.
