(Dallas, TX) —  Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price is one of nine mayors in Texas who are asking Gov. Greg Abbott to allow them to require masks to slow the spread of coronavirus.

The mayors wrote a joint letter pleading with Abbott to give them this authority.  Current state guidelines recommend masks but don’t require them, and local officials aren’t allowed to issue more restrictive orders.

Mayor Price signed the letter, along with the mayors of Dallas, Plano, Arlington, Grand Prairie, Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and El Paso.
