(Arlington, TX) — The Texas Rangers have no plans to change the name of their team.
In a statement Friday, the team said despite its name being derived from law enforcement, the team has forged its own identity. On Thursday, a Chicago Tribune columnist criticized the Texas Rangers law enforcement for having shown violence against Hispanic and black communities.
The team said their foundation has donated more than $45-million to help minority communities over the last 30 years.
