(Plano, TX) — No injuries or structural damage are reported after an accident toward the end of the Fourth of July fireworks show in Plano on Saturday night.
A mortar firework reportedly exploded inside its launching tube, triggering a chain reaction among fireworks still on the ground. The 25-minute show ended about six minutes early, without the grand finale, and fire crews put out at least three grass fires.
In an effort to prevent large gatherings, the city set off the fireworks from the higher ground of Lavon Farms so people could watch from a distance.
