(Dallas, TX) —  Around 28% of Southwest Airlines employees decided to take buyouts or leaves of absence to stave off furloughs.

Southwest CEO Gary Kelly told workers Monday he was thankful for everyone who made the decision, but admitted it was bittersweet.  The Dallas-based airline has seen passenger traffic drop due to the coronavirus pandemic.
