(Arlington, TX)  —  The Texas Rangers won’t have fans in the stands for the 2020 season opener on Friday night, but it’ll sound like they do.

The team’s public address announcer, Chuck Morgan, says the club plans to pipe in sound effects to simulate the noise of a packed house, starting Friday and continuing with the short season’s home games.  Virtual fans will also be present at Globe Life Field.

For $50, fans could send in photos of themselves to be turned into printed cardboard cutouts known as “DoppleRangers.”
