(Fort Worth, TX) — Fort Worth Police Chief Ed Kraus is retiring.

He announced plans to step down by the end of the year or whenever a replacement is hired.  Kraus noted his wife was also going to retire from her job.  Mayor Betsy Price praised Kraus for making the department more transparent and accountable during his tenure.

He was named interim chief in May 2019 following the firing of Joel Fitzgerald and given the job permanently in December.
