(Austin, TX) — Sales tax revenue is higher than expected for July.
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced the state brought in almost $3-billion last month, more than 4% than last year. Hegar says retail helped lead the surge in tax collections while restaurants, mining, and wholesale trade were down. E-commerce was also up as were home improvements.
Oil, natural gas, and motor fuel taxes were also down.
