(Fort Worth, TX) — Tarrant County is stepping up its war against mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus.

Public Health Director Vinny Taneja told county commissioners on Tuesday that mosquito pools are testing positive at a rate of 40%, and as high as 60% in the northeast part of the county.

Taneja says the county plans to spray three nights in a row inside a one-mile radius around traps where mosquitoes are testing positive for the virus.
