(Weatherford, Tx) – Several people were injured when a boat exploded on Lake Weatherford over the weekend.

It happened around 3:15 Saturday afternoon, witnesses say 9 people ranging in age from 2 to 60 were on the boat when the boat blew up and broke out into flames shortly after fueling up at the Lake Weatherford Marina.  Investigators believe the explosion might have been caused by gas vapors in the hull of the boat.

6 people onboard had to be hospitalized with burns and other injuries.  One passenger sustained burns to 40% of their body, the others were reported in stable condition on Sunday.

Texas Game Wardens recovered the sunken boat and will reconstruct the accident which is under investigation.
