(Hood County, TX) — Hood County officials are blaming a lightning strike for a fire that destroyed three crude oil tanks on Tuesday.

The massive fire was reported about 6 p.m. at a tank farm off US Highway 377 west of Cresson.

Hood County Emergency Manager Jay Webster says there were no injuries, and no evacuations were necessary.
