(Frisco, TX)  —  The Cowboys have reportedly released safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix after guaranteeing him 2.25-million dollars in March on a one-year contract.

The 27-year-old was a 2016 Pro Bowler and a 2014 Packers’ first-round pick.  His exit heightens speculation the Cowboys will sign free-agent safety Earl Thomas.  Cutting Clinton-Dix will save 1.5-million-dollars in salary cap space for 2020.

Wide receiver Devin Smith was also one of five other players cut by the Cowboys.  Rosters must be down to 53 by Saturday.
