
(Austin, TX) — A small percentage of Texans who filed for unemployment are finding their benefit payments cut off because of earlier overpayments.
A Texas Workforce Commission spokesperson says about one-percent of people receiving unemployment benefits are affected, and he says it’s a mistake. He says the Treasury Offset Program, which recovers excess benefit payments, was temporarily suspended in March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
