(Lake Jackson, TX) — Governor Greg Abbott is promising the state will do what it can to help Lake Jackson after the discovery of a deadly amoeba in the water supply.
Abbott told reporters on Tuesday the water supply will be flushed and disinfected with chlorine to make sure it’s safe for drinking. He also asked people to pray for the family of a young boy who died after drinking amoeba-tainted water earlier this month. A boil-water notice is still in effect.
State and federal environmental agencies are working with local officials on the problem.
