(Dallas, TX)  —  Both major North Texas airlines are hoping for a bump in travel volume during the holidays.

Southwest Airlines and American Airlines are losing millions of dollars a day as a result of the pandemic-related travel slump.  Overall, airline travel at DFW Airport is down about 70% from a year ago.  Airline officials say they’re keeping their aircraft sanitized for travelers’ safety, and crews are keeping the airport clean as well.

Southwest says its middle seats will be open until the end of November, and both airlines require masks while in flight.
