(Houston, TX) — Southwest Airlines may furlough hundreds of employees in January.
The Dallas-based carrier announced on Wednesday that the furloughs are the next move after negotiations with unions broke down. The airline has worked to avoid layoffs and furloughs during the pandemic, which has badly undercut commercial air travel.
This would be its first involuntary furlough in its nearly 50-year history.
