(Washington, DC) — Americans are packing into airports ahead of Thanksgiving despite CDC recommendations against traveling during the pandemic.
The Transportation Security Administration says it screened over two million people at the nation’s airports on Friday and Saturday. That’s still much less than the amount who traveled on the same Friday and Saturday of last year, but it shows many Americans are going through with their Thanksgiving plans despite the coronavirus.
On Thursday, The CDC warned against holiday air travel, as the number of COVID-19 cases continues to surge across the U.S.
Three major airlines reported a decline in bookings after the announcement, but are still bracing for their busiest week since the pandemic began.
