(Austin, TX)  —  Texas Governor Greg Abbott is getting involved in the North Texas Senate runoff involving a beauty salon owner jailed for breaking coronavirus regulations.

Abbott has endorsed Muenster [[ MUN-ster ]] Representative Drew Springer, saying he has a great track record of defending Christian businesses and securing the border.  Abbott also called the Republican someone with a proven conservative track record.  Springer is running against fellow Republican Salon a la Mode owner Shelley Luther, who was given a week in jail in the spring for keeping the salon open during the lockdown.

Luther finished first in the September special election, but didn’t reach the threshold needed to avoid the runoff.

The District 30 runoff is set for December 19th.  District 30th includes Archer, Clay, Erath, Jack, Palo Pinto, Parker, Wichita, Wise and Young counties.
