(Austin, TX) — 1.4 million doses of a coronavirus vaccine will be available in Texas starting December 14th, according to Gov. Greg Abbott.
The governor made the announcement on Wednesday. A spokesman for the Texas Department of State Health Services says the CDC will send the second doses for the same vaccine recipients in January. Pfizer and Moderna have both developed vaccines that require two doses.
The FDA is scheduled to hold authorization hearings on December 10th. The two companies say they could produce 70-million doses for worldwide distribution by the end of 2020.
