(Fort Worth, TX)  —  Fort Worth plans to move its City Hall into the former location of bankrupt retailer Pier 1 Imports near the Trinity River.

Mayor Betsy Price and City Manager David Cook made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon.  An earlier plan for a new City Hall involved tearing down city buildings to make room for a new complex.  The estimated cost of the plan was 200-million-dollars, and it was expected to take until 2028 to complete.

Price says the move to the former Pier 1 headquarters can be done within the next two years at a much lower cost.
