Homeless Christmas Tree Vanishes From Fort Worth

(Fort Worth, TX)  —  There’s already talk of replacing Fort Worth’s “Homeless Christmas Tree,” which disappeared from its long-term location after Christmas.

The tiny tree was alongside I-30 between Oakland Boulevard and Beach Street until somebody removed it.  A homeless woman first decorated the tree around 1990 and kept it up until her death in 2006, when volunteers took over.  A nearby bench was also removed.

TxDOT owns the land, but says it has no activities in the area that would have involved removing the tree or the bench.
