(Weatherford, Tx) – Parker County authorities have issued a warning after two people and an animal control officer were attacked by a rabid feral cat.
According to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, the attacks happened over the last week in the Whitt area. A 21-year-old woman was bitten Christmas Eve, by an adult male yellow tabby cat while attempting to interact with it on FM 52. Two days later, a 74-year-old man was attacked in his front yard by the same cat and was bitten numerous times. A Parker County animal control officer was also attacked by the same cat at the scene, but not injured. The cat was seized and humanely euthanized.
The Sheriff’s Office says animal control officers are currently canvassing the area for any remaining feral cats and issued a warning to residents in the area to avoid contact with strange animals as more could be infected with rabies.
