(San Antonio, TX) — A collection of Alamo artifacts, donated by Grammy winner Phil Collins, have been put on display in Texas.
The “Phil Collins Collection” also includes a bronze cannon used by the Mexican Army during the Battle of the Alamo. The former singer and drummer for the band Genesis grew up in the suburbs of London, but was captivated by the Walt Disney series Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier. He has spent years, amassing a huge collection of artifacts, which he donated in 2014.
Alamo Curator Ernesto Rodriguez says one of the items is the original battle orders from Mexican General Santa Anna, ordering the attack on the Alamo.
The “Phil Collins Collection Preview” runs March 2nd – April 25th. This temporary exhibit will serve as a preview of what will be on display in the upcoming Alamo Exhibition Hall & Collections Building, set to open in the spring of 2022.
